TRAINING.
Officer Commanding
CORPS 1st BATTERY.
Captain T. Addis Martin.
Throughout the period September 1934
J
April 1935 the
10
Battery has carried out training on 6 in. Coast Defence Guns both
at Belcher's Fort and Volunteer Headquarters.
Training at Belcher's Fort was held on the second Thursday
in each month in conjunction with the Engineer Company and under
Regular Instructors. These parades lasted from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
and on occasions a launch was used as a target.
At Headquarters on the other Thursdays training in
Mechanism was carried out on the 6 in. Mh. VII Gun mounted on the
Parade Ground.
During the Autumn months classes were also held for Layers
at kowloon West on Sunday mornings.
The D.R.F. party were trained under a volunteer N.C.C.,
and ex-regular Instructor.
As a result much has been learned this season and the
efficiency of the Battery and all N.C.O's especially has now been
brought up to a satisfactory standard.
Long week-end Training and Practice was carried out at
Pak Sha Wan Battery during two week-ends in March 1935. The first
week-end was spent in co-ordinating the work previously carried
out at Belchers and Headquarters and on the second week-end a
Practice Shoot was carried out.
The number of rounds fired was 25 and being the first
Practice fired by this Battery it was gratifying to see results
which were considered by R.A. Headquarters Staff as being very
satisfactory.
The Battery also manned Belcher's Fort during the Combined
Operations in March 1935.
Throughout the Training Season the co-operation of 20th
Battery has been of the utmost value and the present efficiency
